Alana's trip to Fiji

How lucky am I to be able to say I spent my weekend in Fiji? Castaway Island, Fiji in fact!

If you hadn’t heard Fiji Airways have started a direct service between Adelaide and Nadi. With flights on Mondays and Fridays, it makes Fiji even more irresistible.

Castaway Island, Fiji

I departed, along with four other great travel agents from South Australia, from Adelaide last Friday at 10pm. With less than 5 hours flying time and a little shut eye, we landed at Nadi airport on Saturday, 5.30am local time. The flight was smooth, the staff were friendly and the hot meal served was yum! We then had a transfer from the airport to Port Denarau, and a catamaran transfer out to my home for the next two nights; Castaway Island.

Castaway Island is a small island with only the one Resort, has beautiful beaches, snorkelling and a fantastic range of complimentary and charged activities and tours. Not to mention the two pools, swim up bar, sunset bar with wood fired oven pizzas and much more.

I visited Modriki island, where the award-winning movie Castaway starring Tom Hanks was filmed. This island also has some fantastic reef to snorkel just steps off the beach. We also took park in coral planting; Castaway island are experimenting with this due to human footsteps and the effects of the cyclone that passed through last year.

I had a fantastic weekend and would highly recommend to anyone, a family holiday a romantic getaway, a group booking, Castaway can cater for you!
